Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Poet

Yevgeny Yevtushenko is a world-famous Russian poet, who was the first to break the silence about the massacre of thousands of Jews in Babi Yar in Kyiv.

It takes many pages to describe all his achievements but I’d better refer you to a very detailed article about him on Wikipedia.

I met Yevgeny Yevtushenko at an exhibition of modern art, which involved a poetic show. He came in absolutely unexpectedly, greeted the audience, and sat down to watch the performance. I got close to him and started taking pictures.

At that time I only had a roll of expired Fujichrome 64T, a color reversal film which I’ve exposed at ISO 200 for cross processing. The film speed usually increases during cross processing. This allowed me to take pictures in a relatively dark room. The photo on top I converted into black and white, while the second one I decided to keep in color.
